

Matthew Drinkwater is the chef-patron and owner of the new restaurant No. 50 in Rye, East Sussex
As chef-patron, Drinkwater oversees both the business and culinary aspects of his own restaurant, No. 50, which opened in May 2025 in Rye.
Prior to opening his own venue, he served as head chef at three well-known restaurants in the Rye area:



The Wild Mushroom Westfield, Webbes at the fish Cafe and Fletchers House.
His cooking focuses on creating flavourful dishes using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients from the East Sussex area. He aims to provide a thoughtful dining experience rooted in the region’s land and sea.
Matthew is described as a “brilliant local chef” who has received strong support from the local community, friends, and family in establishing his new restaurant.
